Chalet Treforest
THE CHALET LOCATION
The chalet is situated on Route des Putheys, 100 metres from the bus stop which takes you to the Prodain cable car up to Avoriaz, or 50 metres to go down to Morzine town and ski area. Both bus rides take you to the lifts in 5–10 minutes. With years where conditions have been mixed we have felt lucky that we have such easy access to higher Avoriaz slopes.
The walk into Morzine centre takes around 10 - 15 minutes (uphill on the way back with a local bar/restaurant en-route for those needing refreshment).
The local bakery is a 10 minute walk and provides a wonderful source for daily breakfast provisions for those who like an early morning stroll.
ABOUT THE LOCAL AREA
Morzine is a pretty alpine town situated in the Haute Savoie region of France close to the border with Switzerland, taking just under an hour and a half to get to from Geneva airport. It is linked to the ski resorts of Avoriaz, Les Gets, Châtel and Champéry forming part of the enormous Portes du Soleil ski area, which ranks among the two largest ski areas in the world. If you don’t want to ski but still want to be active during the winter months there are plenty of things to keep you busy, snowshoeing, ice diving in Lake Montriond or swimming in the indoor pools of either Morzine or Avoriaz. If that all sounds a bit too much you can get pampered at one of the various spa's in the local area.
In the summer Morzine comes alive with hikers and both road and mountain bikers. There are plenty of activities to fill your days including canyoning, white water rafting, rock climbing, Fantasticable (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5OrXQHuKqw), golf, tennis, horse riding and much more.
How to get to Morzine
Flights - Various airlines fly to Geneva from the UK. Swiss and BA have regular flights from Heathrow. EasyJet from other UK airports.
